How We Research
Every recommendation is built from manufacturer specifications, product labels, published husbandry sources and owner reports. We set the stated figures side by side and say which source each one comes from. When a claim is only a marketing line, the guide says so.
Independence Guarantee
Affiliate commissions, including Amazon Associates earnings, fund the site and do not change what we recommend. We do not take payment for placement and we do not publish sponsored posts. If the specs or owner reports show a product is a poor fit, we say so, even when it pays a commission.
The Blackwater Perspective
TanninLab has a signature point of view: botanicals and natural blackwater methods can suit many soft-water species, including bettas and shrimp. We base that on published husbandry sources and keeper reports, not ideology. When the evidence contradicts a blackwater practice, we follow the evidence.
